How Project Bifrost works
Every tool in the panel, explained — what it does, when to reach for it, and the steps to run it.
Getting started
- Download the Windows installer from the site (Mac coming soon).
- Install, open After Effects, and open the Project Bifrost panel.
- Sign in and subscribe on projectbifrost.app, copy your licence key, then paste it on the Home tab and Activate.
- AI features use included monthly credits — pick a Realm to match how demanding the brief is.
AE AI Prompt
Flagship co-pilot inside the panel. You describe the work; Bifrost inspects the project, proposes a plan, and waits — nothing lands in AE until you approve.
How it works
- Open the AI tab and write what you want (cleanup, rewrite text, swap assets, expressions, layouts, and more).
- Optionally tap Enhance to tighten the prompt.
- Generate — Bifrost proposes a plan of changes.
- Review, then Apply. Use Undo if needed.
- Auto-repair can request a fix plan if something fails.
Realms
Three bridges across the Bifrost — Midgard is the default for most jobs:
- Midgard — everyday default, lowest credit draw (text only — no images)
- Jotunheim — high reasoning with vision (maps & references)
- Asgard — flagship, hardest briefs
Agent Bridge
Included with every Solo and Team plan. Lets you work with an open After Effects session from outside the panel — inspect the project and apply changes through the MCP bridge, using the same licence key you activate on Home.
How it works
- Activate your Solo or Team licence on the Home tab (MCP is bundled — no addon).
- Look for the MCP badge on that licence in the dashboard.
- Start the agent bridge in the panel AI tab while After Effects is running.
- Connect from Cursor, Claude, or any MCP client with the token shown there.
- Stop the bridge when finished.
Quick Distribute
Space text layers and nested comps evenly across the active composition — built for title rows, lower thirds, and stage layouts.
How it works
- Select layers in order, or select nothing to auto-find text layers.
- Choose Horizontal or Vertical; set edge offsets (Left / Right / Up / Down).
- Options: Text smart (size from largest text, including nested comps), Auto-fit, Sort by position, and Fill from one (shallow-copy enough layers to fill from a single selection).
Screen Mapper
Build LED tile layouts, stage screen maps, 360 wraps, and 5-wall 3D rooms for show packages.
How it works
- Set shared naming for the screens you're building.
- Choose layout type: tiles from counts or totals, stage map, 360 wrap, or 5-wall room.
- Generate comps and guides suited to LED and stage workflows.
Camera packages
Drop framed camera-feed placeholders into the active comp for multi-cam show packages.
How it works
- Open the Camera tab.
- Configure the feed placeholder.
- Generate into the active composition for multi-cam layouts.
Duplicator
Deep or shared full-structure duplicates of selected comps — parallel versions of a package without manually cloning every precomp.
How it works
- Select comps in the Project panel.
- Choose deep vs shared behaviour.
- Optionally exclude items by name (e.g. Global_Colors).
- Run Duplicate full structure.
HAP Encode
Render MOV from After Effects, then encode HAP / HAP Alpha / HAP Q for playback systems.
How it works
- Select comps in the Project panel.
- Choose an output folder.
- Pick format (HAP / HAP Alpha / HAP Q), compressor, chunks, audio, optional scale, 25 fps, keep MOV, and overwrite.
- Run — AE writes MOV, then HAP encodes those files into the same folder.
Tip: keep MOV on for easier re-encode; 25 fps is common for show playback.
Utilities
- Mass font converter — change fonts by AE PostScript name across selected layers, the active comp, or the whole project.
- Comp duration / Comp FPS — update selected comps quickly for show rates (e.g. 25 fps).
Licence, updates & support
- Activate your licence on the Home tab. The panel soft-rechecks while you work.
- Check for updates from Home — downloads come from projectbifrost.app.
- Need help? Open a ticket on Support.
